In the Chemistry Food Fair project we learned just how much chemistry relates to the real world. We researched any topic we wanted revolving around food. People had many different topics like leaveners, how smell effects your taste, meat temperatures, acidity, gluten etc. The topic I chose was on food coloring and how "color tastes". Each person wrote a one page exhibit proposal stating what they would like do to in the food fair if their exhibit was voted in. After everyones was turned in we did a gallery walk to read all the different ideas and vote on 9 we would like to see happen. From the 9 that were chosen, the rest of the class evenly dispersed to make groups of 2 or 3. The groups worked for a week researching more in depth on the topic that was chosen and laying out the display board. Many exhibits also added an activity or gave away food. This was a very fun way to close out our 10th grade year and learn at the same time.
